Crandle “Pap” Gravitt, 80, of Jasper, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
Crandle was a veteran of the U S Army serving as a tank commander at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a truck driver by Brown Oil, Central Oil and Lofty Construction.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for the care given to Crandle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Essie Perkins Gravitt; brother, Ray Neil Gravitt; and sisters, Barbara Layne, Faye Hartman and Glenda Worley.
Crandle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Gravitt; son, Tim (Jodie) Gravitt; daughter, Kathy (Ransom) Johnson; brothers, Larry Gravitt and Tommy Gravitt; sisters, Freddie Morrison, Janice McGowan, Joyce (Bill) McDonough) and Audry (David) Birdwell; grandchildren, Leslie (Calvin) Massengale, Josh Gravitt, Brandon (Crystal) Johnson, Brandy (Lee) Lamkin, and Payton Gravitt; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Harper Massengale, Skylar Gravitt and Kendall Lamkin; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 27, at 4 p.m. CDT, with Bro. Steve Sellers and David Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, with full military honor provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. CDT, on Sunday, June 26.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Crandle’s memory to Amedisys Hospice or the charity of your choice.
