DAR Chickamauga Chapter Honors Vietnam Veterans

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Chickamauga Chapter, Chattanooga, held a ceremony during the June meeting to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War.

Working within the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemorative Partner Program, as established by the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, the Chickamauga Chapter honored eight veterans with the presentation of a United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin, a DAR certificate, a Thank You letter from the Chickamauga Chapter, and sundry items from the Department of Defense.

In addition, each veteran received a flag from the Chattanooga Memorial at Lee Highway.  

The ceremony was led by Chickamauga Chapter Regent Joye Duke, Chapter Registrar Lynne Hill and 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Committee Chairman Susan Harris.   

The Honored Veterans included: Jim Wade, U.S. Army; Jerry Ward, U.S. Army; Noah Long, U.S. Navy; Lester Kring, U.S. Air Force; James Burrows, U.S. Army; Lawrence Harris, II, U.S. Air Force; Thomas Carrin, U.S. Army; and Billy Ray Beaver, U.S. Navy.
