The Jackson Generals used a three-run seventh inning to defeat the Chattanooga Lookouts, 3-1.
The Lookouts won the first series of the second half, three games to two..
Lookouts starting pitcher Kohl Stewart was the story early for Chattanooga, shutting out Jackson for six innings. The righty got into trouble in the seventh by allowing a walk and a double.
After DJ Peterson scored on a ground out, Steve Baron smoked the first pitch he saw over the fence to give Jackson the 3-1 lead.
Stewart finished the night going seven innings and allowing those three runs on seven hits.
Chattanooga meanwhile didn't put a man on until the fourth against Brett Ash (8-3, 4.12). The first nine Lookouts all went down in order before Zach Granite singled into center to start the fourth. Granite promptly stole second and scored two batters later on Daniel Palka's RBI single into center to give Chattanooga a 1-0 lead.
Palka's RBI single was his 59th RBI of the season, tying him with Jackson's Tyler O'Neill for the most in the Southern League.
Chattanooga's final threat came in the seventh against a pair of Jackson pitchers. With one out, Mitch Garver singled up the middle. D.J. Hicks followed him up with a groundball to second, but when Lopes threw to second to try and get the lead runner Garver, Lopes' throw was late and both Garver and Hicks were safe. After Ash got Leonardo Reginatto to pop out for the second out, Matt Anderson replaced Ash on the hill. Anderson immediately struck out Stuart Turner to end the inning and preserve the 3-1 lead after seven.
Reliever Corey Williams came in for Stewart in the eighth and pitched two shutout innings, but the Lookouts offense could not muster any more runs.
