Mary Ann Lindsey
Mary Ann Lindsey, 79, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
She was born March 4, 1937, in Livingston, Al., to Dan and Settie Jackson. She was the second oldest of five children – Dan Jr., Odis, Catherine and Willie. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long time member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1955. As a military wife for over 20 years, she traveled extensively abroad and stateside with her late husband. She was employed with both the City and County Schools Systems and retired June 30, 2015.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Settie Jackson; husband, Robert Lindsey, Sr.; brother, Dan Jackson, Jr.; sisters, Catherine Jackson; daughter-in-law, Vivian Lindsey; sister-in-law, Catherine Jackson; granddaughter, Ashley Lindsey; nephew, David Lindsey; other aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Jr., Cherry Hill, NJ; Dan LeRoy “Roy”, Chattanooga; Geary, Morgan City, LA; Jerry, Chattanooga; Andre’, Phoenix, AZ; Stephen (Kim), OK; eight grandchildren with Jill (Brandon) Adkins and Querida Lindsey being truly devoted granddaughterd ; brother, Odis (Leatha P.) Jackson, Chattanooga; and Will (Perlita JoAnn) Jackson, Kennesaw, GA; niece, Kara (Earnest) Pringle, Acworth, GA; niece, Pamela (J) Wyatt, Kennesaw, GA; nephew, Andre’ Jackson, Boston, MA; niece, Danielle Jackson, Atlanta, GA; niece, Celestine (LeRoy) Jackson, Slidell, LA; brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Christine Lindsey, Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11 s.m. on Friday, July 8, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Robert L. Allen presiding. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, July 7, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
