Deborah Matthews
Deborah Denise Carter Matthews, 60, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at her residence.
She was a 1974 graduate of Riverside High School. She was a dutiful nurse and sitter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Carter; parents, Olivia Talley and Otis Carter; stepfather, Howard Talley; sisters, Eunena Carter, Alesia Carter, Brenda Talley, and Tasha Thomas; aunt, Virginia Woods.
Survivors include her loving and devoted daughter, Tranika Carter of Chattanooga; son, Marcus Carter of Nashville; husband, Chris Matthews of Lithonia, GA; loving grandchildren, Cedric Carter, Dedric Carter, Marketha Carter, all of Nashville, and My’Azia Flowers of Chattanooga; loving and devoted sister, Benita Talley and Lucinda Carter Roberts, both of Chattanooga; step-sisters, Robin Talley of Chattanooga, Consandra Leathers Timmons of Fayetteville, NC; special nieces, LaQuada Trotter, Tara Webb, and Teandra Carter; special nephews, Cedric Freeman, Jermel Moore, and Lovest (Toree) Carter; loving cousins, Sonessa Woods and Kim Talley; god-daughter, ReYaundra Mathis; special friends, Dorothy Mann of Nashville, Jerome Golson and Velma Hill, both of Chattanooga, Larry Strickland and Morris Strickland, both of Roswell, GA; a host of nieces; nephews; couins; other relatives and friends.
Visitation is on Tuesday, July 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 6, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Willie L. Springs as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
