Jimmy Thompson, 71, of Old Fort, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016.
He was born on June 20, 1945 to Glenn and Margaret Ruby Thompson. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. He enjoyed flying remote controlled planes, rebuilding cars, drag racing, and bluegrass and old country music. Above all things, Jimmy will be remembered for being a kind man who never met a stranger. He could carry on a conversation with anyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ruby Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Ruth Thompson; daughters Amanda Thompson (Justin McCrory) and Deborah Davis; son, Robert Russell (Joyce); brothers, Steve Thompson (Elizabeth) and Andy Thompson (Brenda); grandchildren, Aaron Russell (Melanie), Shawn Davis, and Nathan Russell; special great-grandson “Cam”; and numerous other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 2, at Parkway Baptist Church located at 185 Meadow Lane, Cleveland, TN 37323.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 1.
