Greater Chattanooga Association Of Realtors Endorses Marty Haynes For Assessor

  • Thursday, June 30, 2016

Marty Haynes, the Republican nominee for Assessor of Property, announced Thursday that he received the public endorsement and support of the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors in the August General Election for the office of Hamilton County Assessor of Property.

The Hamilton County Assessor’s Office works with every property owner, private and commercial, on an ongoing basis to meet state assessment mandates on the valuation and taxable rate of a property.

“After reviewing both candidates in this race, Marty Haynes clearly stands out as the most qualified candidate for the Assessor of Property position,” said Ron Tucker, chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors.

“We believe Marty has the best vision for moving the Assessor’s Office forward and fully recognizes the importance real estate and home ownership play in the overall economic growth and prosperity in Hamilton County.  We proudly throw our full support behind Commissioner Haynes in this race.”

"With 30-plus years of executive experience, Commissioner Haynes has built a successful business career working for Chattanooga-owned Porter Warner Industries in a competitive market.  Commissioner Haynes has served on the County Commission since 2012 where he used his business experience to improve county government by voting for a balanced budget ever year, bring more accountability and transparency to government spending, and working to prevent a county property tax increase for all taxpayers – including seniors.  Due to his efforts and others on the County Commission, the county property tax rate has not been increased since 2007 – a fact Commissioner Haynes proudly stands behind today," officials said.

Commissioner Haynes said, “It’s truly is an honor to receive the vote of confidence and support of the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors.  Realtors are uniquely qualified to appreciate the importance of the Assessor’s Office and the necessary qualifications needed to lead this critical administrative office for county government.

“People trust Realtors to help them with buying and selling their property, and this endorsement shows Realtors trust me with protecting the public’s biggest investment – their property – and ensure all property assessments are fair, accurate and not influenced by political activism.”

As part of their endorsement, representatives of the GCAR also said, “This endorsement is in recognition of our belief that Marty Haynes is highly qualified to serve as our next Assessor of Property.  His business experience and record of public service to our community has proven him worthy of selection by the voters of Hamilton County.”

The Early Voting period for the August General Election begins on Friday, July 15, and runs through Saturday, July 30, with Election Day being on Thursday, Aug. 4.
