Edna Lee Dillingham, 85, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Edna was born June 24, 1930. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and Nana. She was an avid seamstress, loved to cook and enjoyed working in her garden. Edna was strong in the Baptist Faith. She was co-founder in the establishment of Beaverdale Baptist Church where she served as Secretary-Treasurer and Sunday school teacher for numerous years. She retired from the University of Georgia Extension Service in 1997 after 44 years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dillingham; parents, Angus “Yank” and Viola Cooper Larmon; and brother, Ivory I.T. Larmon.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Cline of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Laurie Dillingham of Dalton; three granddaughters, Meghan Cline of Washington, D.C. and Rachel and Jenna Dillingham of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Arvil Westmoreland of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, A.J. and Frances Larmon of Chatsworth and Leonard and Linda Larmon of Dalton; and nieces and nephews.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you for the love and compassion given Edna from special friend and caregiver, Faye Yother and the Hamilton Hospice Team.
The funeral service to honor the life of Edna Dillingham will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Rodger Whorton officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Julian Peeples Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
