A developer plans 246 apartments on a 32.88-acre site near the I-24 exit at Cummings Highway in Lookout Valley.

The site, which currently contains only a water tower, is on Kelly's Ferry Road at Francis Street.

Developer Thomas Austin said 11 acres would be left undeveloped.

He said multiple three-story buildings are proposed to be located in three clusters along the property's main internal road.

The proposed density is approximately 7.5 dwelling units per acre.

The request for rezoning goes before the Planning Commission next Monday at 1 p.m. at the County Courthouse.
