Robert Tucker
Robert Virgel Tucker, 77, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, June 6, 2016.
Born in Summerville, Ga., Robert was happily married to Shirley Adams Tucker of Trion, Ga. for 55 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and remembered for his faith, his grit and his generous heart.
Robert was a faithful member of Abba’s House since 1976. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked 20 years with Hurley’s Food Store, 21 years with Red Food Store, three years with DM Steward Manufacturing and six years at Lowe’s. His hardworking spirit followed him into retirement where he poured his energy into his land, his family and his 1968 Ford F-100.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Tucker, daughter Robin Tucker (Scott) Smith, granddaughter Callie and grandson Caleb, along with brother Jimmy (Charlene) Tucker and sister Betty Tucker (Frank) Vineyard. He is also survived by six nephews, as well as seven great nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by father Joshua Tucker and mother Annie Ruth Millican Tucker.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. with a celebration service to follow at 6 p.m. at Abba’s House in Hixson. A private burial at the Chattanooga National Cemetery is to follow at a later date, and arrangements are being made by Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.
