Chattanooga's First Yoga Festival, Southern Bend, Set For Aug. 27

Southern Bend, a new non-profit organization aimed at uniting the Chattanooga community in "joyful celebration through mindful movement", will kick-off Chattanooga’s first yoga festival on Saturday, Aug. 27, from noon to 11 p.m. in Coolidge Park.  

Southern Bend Yoga Festival is for the young and the old, the advanced yogi, and those who have never stepped onto a yoga mat before.

Early bird tickets are available until Aug. 14 for $45, general admission is $60, $12 for children under 12, and children under five are free. Tickets offer attendees access to three of the following sessions.

Third Eye Center – Jill Knouse and DJ HiFi (Ian Hyman) headline the festival with a play of yoga practice and music for a fun filled and inspired evening. During the day Third Eye Center will feature: Intro to Prana with Jayne Cagle, Power/Ashtanga Yoga with Matthew Kramer and Power Flow with Sarah Mingus. 

Soul Base – A YIN meditation session with Jen Blair, Heartful Meditation with Jayne Cagle, Yoga Nidra with Maggie White, History: A tribute to the First Lady of Yoga – Why Your Yoga Journey Matters with Jessica Jollie, Speak Easy with Madia Swicord and Intro to Prana with Jayne Cagle. 

Java Jive – Chill and groove in this lounge featuring local artists.  Classical guitar with Jeremy Pickard, live action painting with Aloyse Brown, acoustic/vocals with Cara Madras and presence project perform. 

Next Generation Pavilion - Featuring Balance Studio leading Kids yoga and art classes. 

Water Walk - Take your balance for a ride on a paddleboard for SUP classes with Haley Mills, Jayne Cagle and Ashley Everett. 

Slack Line – Balance and fall with Edward Yates and Aaron Aldrich. 

Acroyoga – Fly with Matt Fields-Johnson and Liz Overton. 

Tai Chi – Flow with Dr. Guo. 

Southern Bend’s 2016 festival will donate 10 percent of net to Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Benjamin, who is currently on a waiting list to receive an organ.  The funds raised by Southern Bend will go directly to a Chattanooga based family.
