Sherman B. “Sonny” McClure, 75, died on Thursday, June 30, 2016.

Sonny worked with the Red Bank Police Department. He was manager of Olympia Skating Rink and Rollercoaster Skate World and Mueller Company. Sonny was a member of the Red Bank Loins Club and the Reb Bank Masonic Lodge. He was a loving husband of 50 years, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather- his unconditional love touched many people over his lifetime. Sonny was member of Alpine Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Beacon Health - Dr. Phillips, Nicki and Tracy for everything. Thanks to CHI Memorial-Dr. Calvin Ledford, Dr. Bruce and all nurses and staff for the wonderful care, all of his doctors who took good care of him, especially Hospice of Chattanooga. Thank you to our church family at Alpine Bapstist Church – your support has touched us deeply.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Charles McClure and Edna Parker; and sisters, Evelyn Dejornas, Geneva McClure and Coleta Adkins.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Linda Dupree McClure; daughters, Gina (Kurt) Lakin and Lisa (Mike) Pugh; granddaughters, Megan McClure, Kelsey McClure and Emma Lakin; grandson, Hayden Lakin; great-granddaughters, Emery Stinnett and Addie Pugh; extended daughter, Jamie Gill; many nieces and nephews; his precious dog “Bear”; four sisters, Norma Martin, Marie Boyt, Hazel Payne and Gaylynn Smith; and two brothers, Jerril (Linda) McClure and David Pitts.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, and 12:30–1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, at Chattanooga Memorial Park (White Oak, Duck Pond) with Brother Jimmy Fowler officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in Sonny’s name to Alpine Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace.
