Curtis Brown, 34, Exchanges Gunfire With Officers In East Chattanooga Late Monday Night

Curtis Brown, 34, exchanged shots with Chattanooga Police officers in East Chattanooga late Monday night. He fled the scene and was not apprehended.

Around 11 p.m., dispatch received a call from an anonymous caller concerning a person(s) in the street with a firearm. Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department responded to 2400 Glass St. (Sandy's) concerning the report of the disorder.

Once on scene, officers located Brown and attempted to make contact.

He did not respond to police and fled on foot from officers.

Officers followed him on foot and at some point he reportedly brandished a firearm.

Gunfire was exchanged between both the officers and the suspect, who then fled.

There are no reported injuries at this time.

Per policy, both officers are on administrative leave for seven days.

Brown faces two charges of attempted murder, unlawful possession, and possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony. 

Chattanooga Police ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of Brown to call police immediately at 911. He is considered armed and dangerous.
