An Open Letter To Brent Marsh - And Response

  • Friday, July 15, 2016

Open Letter to Brent Marsh:

Instead of your mandated apology offered, why not tell those of us who lost their loved ones forever what you did with them?

Tell the ones who received material which could not be determined to be human and contained animal bone, together with wire brushes, etc.; tell the ones who had to take their children (my son) to have blood drawn for comparison tests against the bodies found; tell those who poured endlessly and in vain over the descriptions of unidentified corpses, hoping to recognize something familiar so as to claim the body; tell us who believed we had cremains in our urns, or in my case, also a locket which I thought contained a portion of my husband’s remains and wore around my neck, where you took their bodies.

My late husband was not found among the many, many discarded bodies.  I am not the only one who will never know what became of their loved one.
 It is sad to lose someone.  However, having their remains gives us some sense of closure.  People visit graves of their deceased to pay their respects and show love.  Those choosing cremation hold dear the cremains in the same fashion.  There is no way you will understand the betrayal and loss experienced due to your lack of respect and irresponsible actions.  We will be haunted and torn until we pass on ourselves.

Please keep your apology and tell the truth:  Where did our loved ones end up?

* * *

First I am extremely sorry for the pain that all involved went through. Ms. Brown, this is meant far more as a commentary on us as a society and I hope it won't be taken personally.

Mr. Marsh's release is the perfect time to examine who we really are on the inside. It is time to grab hold of what we profess to believe in and live up to it.

If you are a Christian, forgive and accept that the body is a shell, believe in the redemption of the lost, and that God has a plan.

If you think the American Legal System works, Mr. Marsh was convicted and served every day of his sentence.

If you are evil, mean and bitter and want more than the pound of flesh he already paid, fix the problem in your soul.

For myself and my wife, I'll offer a handshake and a Welcome Home. I know that he has spent his time inside becoming a better person, building the kind of character that we'd be lucky to call our friend. I look forward to it.

I wish all involved whatever it takes to bring peace.

Lamarr Eddings, Jr.
