Rescue crews came to the aid of a teen who dislocated his shoulder at Falling Water Falls swimming area on Wednesday afternoon.
At 6 p.m. a 911 call was made reporting a 19-year-old had been injured at the swimming area. He informed dispatchers that he was unable to hike out of the trail due to his shoulder injury.
The Signal Mountain Fire Department and Walden's Ridge Emergency Services personnel responded to 6599 Forest Park Dr. Due to the heat and humidity, a mutual aid response was requested for additional manpower. The Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
At 6:15 p.m., two rescue crews entered the woods and hiked about 500 yards to the injured victim. Rescue personnel stabilized his arm so he could walk the trail on his own with rescue personnel.
He reported to rescuers that his arm dislocated while in mid-air as he jumped into the water.
Rescue efforts took about 45 minutes. The injured teen went to the hospital by personal vehicle.
As he walked to his car, he thanked all the emergency service personnel for coming to help him out of the woods.
