Dorothy Wood Cade, 93, of Signal Mountain, died on July 21, 2016.
She was born in Tuscumbia, Al., and lived in the Chattanooga area for over 65 years. She attended Florence State Teachers college and worked at Reynolds Aluminum during World War II in support of the war effort. She later worked in the medical research labs at Duke University Hospital. She was married to her beloved husband Joseph W. Cade for 70 years and raised a family of three children. She was a member of Signal Mountain Church of Christ.
She is survived by her sister, Dean Walthall of Sheffield, Al.; brother, Jack Wood of Florence, Al.; children Linda (Maston) Lyons, Becky (Grady) Oakley, and Joseph W. Cade, Jr.; grandchildren, Matt (Leslie) Lyons, Erin (Robert) Jackson, Josh (Rachel) Oakley, and Katie Oakley; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents, Osborn and Augusta Wood of Tuscumbia, Al., and daughter-in-law Susan McCleskey Cade of Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 25, at the funeral home with Minister Greg Nance officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
