Burma Millican Whitmire, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

She was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Kensington, Ga. Mrs. Whitmire was retired from Provident Life Insurance Company and was a long-time member of Concord Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Lou Millican; brother, Tom Millican.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Roy Whitmire; daughters, Royce (Bill) Hampton, Lynne (Mike) Cory; grandchildren, Matthew Hampton, Sarah Lane, Martha Ward, Anna Evans, Hannah Bryan, Bethany Allison and Jeremiah Cory, several great grandchildren; sister, Evelene (Jack) Roberts.

A private graveside will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home on Lee Highway in Chattanooga, or to Concord Baptist Church Missions Program.
