William "Grant" Lovelace, 51, of Canton, Georgia, died suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Grant was predeceased by his grandparents, William "Oran" and Orene Lovelace and Leroy and LaRue Cherry.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Janeane, his son, Garrett and wife Megan, son, Parker and daughter, McKenzie Lovelace; parents, William "Bill" and Gail Lovelace; parents-in-law, David and Judith Lambert; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kelley and Karen Lovelace and Cory and Christa Lovelace; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kevin and Renee Wells; nieces, Catey and Claire Lovelace and Jenna Wells; nephews, Michael and Anthony Wells and McCain Merren; uncles and aunts, Ronnie and wife Wenda Lovelace, and Denny and wife Sherry Lovelace, and cousin, Krysta Lovelace West.

Grant was born in Mayfield, KY. He graduated from Hixson High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan and loved to attend games in Neyland Stadium and watch games and movies on TV with friends and family.

Grant coached baseball and football at Sharon Springs Park in Forsyth County, Ga., Will's Park in Alpharetta, Ga., and for East Cobb Baseball. He most recently worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers and was due to start at IBM in early August.

Grant’s family and friends will miss his sense of humor and his witty daily texts and cartoons. He also had an impeccable ability to provide timely encouragement to those who needed it most. But most of all, he will be remembered as a compassionate, patient, self-confident, and loyal man whose family always came first.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
