Dr. Patti Skates Has The Experience And Knowledge To Serve Our Schools - And Response

  • Tuesday, July 26, 2016

My wife and I have had four children who have attended and graduated from Hamilton County schools. During their time in school we volunteered at the schools and worked extensively on the PTA boards. We believe we have some first hand knowledge of the workings in the school system.

For some time now, the entire school board has lost sight of what is going on in the schools and community. With the events of this past year, it is time all were replaced with new people, especially those who have been serving for several terms.

It seems that many people all over Hamilton County think this way as well and are willing to back candidates who are qualified to replace the current board members.

Even though we do not live in District 1, we do know one of the candidates. The most qualified candidate, Dr. Patti Skates.

We have sought her advice several times during the time our children were in school. From Dr. Skates, we knew we would get sound advice. We know her to be honest, hardworking, and have high expectations for students.  During our time on the PTA boards, she was a tremendous source of knowledge. She will represent District 1 with a positive attitude and make decisions that will benefit the students in her district, and the entire county.

Patti will listen to and work with the other members of the board as well as the County Commission.

We encourage our friends who live in District 1 to vote for Patti. We need to bring about the change for the Hamilton County schools that is so desperately needed.

Dr. Skates is the most qualified candidate. She has her Doctorate In Education and is the only candidate in District 1 that has any background in education. Patti has actually taught in the Hamilton County Schools. She has been in the trenches and knows what these kids really need.

Patti has also been endorsed by the Greater Chattanooga Realtors Association , the Hamilton County Education Association and the Times Free Press. They all want to see change as well.  We need to make a change if we are going to make a difference.

* * *

I was a student at Red Bank High School and was lucky enough to have Dr. Patti Skates as a teacher and mentor.  As a student of Dr. Skate’s you quickly see her passion for education and her passion to help you succeed. She is a woman of honor, principles and love. Her love for her students, her love for teaching and her love for education shows in everything she does.

I graduated 10 years ago and now have the honor of calling Dr. Patti Skate’s a former teacher and a friend. She still keeps up with her former students and pushes them to succeed even in adult life. Dr. Skates knows that the lessons don’t stop when they are no longer your student, but that lessons continue throughout your life and she is there to help, push and celebrate when you succeed.

Dr. Patti Skates is the most qualified candidate running for Hamilton County School Board District 1. She will work with other members of the board in a professional manner, she will listen to the community and their concerns, and she will listen to the concerns of those working in our schools because she’s been there herself.

Dr. Patti Skates takes education seriously and is proud of her time in the public school system. Unlike her running mate, Rhonda Thurman who likes to mock education by sticking PHD to her signs and no it doesn’t mean she has a PhD, it stands for “Professional Hair Dresser”.  Our school system is in shambles and we need a candidate that takes education serious and knows the ins and outs of the school system, who knows what teachers and students face on a day to day bases, that candidate is Dr. Patti Skates.

Go vote - vote Dr. Patti Skates for a change.
