John W. Holmes, Jr., 70, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Holmes was a 1963 graduate of Ooltewah High School and retired from Hamilton County Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ethel Holmes; sisters, Ruby Gentry, Mary Moody, Gladys Springfield, Billye Nolan, Helen Hayes, Wilma Hammontree and twins, Betty Jo and Betty Jean; granddaughter, Alicia Holmes.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Grace (Kuster) Holmes; sons, Jeff (Diane) Holmes of Trenton, GA and Eric (Kellye) Holmes of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Taylor (Lindsay) , Jackson, Chris, Jessica, Lauren, Sidney (Robert) Abigail, Brailyn and Claire; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Kennedy and Greyson; sister, Opal Ford, Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.
