Legal Aid of East Tennessee presented Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area with the 2016 Alexander Hamilton Award on July 21 at their annual Legal Aid of East Tennessee's Pro Bono Awards Night. The award recognizes non-legal entities who have worked to further the cause of access to justice for Chattanooga residents.
Habitat was recognized for their collaboration with local Attorney David Coates and Legal Aid to offer an "Estate Planning Clinic" earlier this year for Habitat homeowners.
Nearly 40 homeowners had wills drafted and notarized at the daylong clinic in order to protect their homes, children, and other assets.
