Reba J. Lay, 62, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Monday July 26, 2016 at the family residence.
Reba was born in Benton, TN to the late Bessie Gatlin Cross and Levi Cross; and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Christine Anderson and Francis Clay; and her brothers, Bate, R. J. and Hubert Cross.
Reba was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She brightened and touched so many lives with her smile and kind words. She enjoyed helping anyone she could. Reba enjoyed traveling and fishing but more than anything she enjoyed going to her church, God’s House of Prayer.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie Lay of Cleveland; her son, Jimmy Lay and his wife Ashley; her daughters, Tracy Griffith and Sharon Mikel; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Rosie Young; her brothers, J. L. Cross and his wife Ruby and Russell Cross; her mother-in- law, Christine Lay; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, July 28, at 2 p.m. from the Mercy Tabernacle in Benton with Reverend Don Harris, Reverend Junior McCann and Bishop Wesley McCann officiating. Interment will follow in the Cohutta Hills Community Church Cemetery with Lonnie Cross, Tim Lay, Carl Stinnett, Jonathan McCann, Dewayne Hooker, Lee Goodman and Dakota Hooker serving as casket bearers.
Reba will be at the church for viewing on Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
