Skye Strategies Grant Writing Firm Continues To Expand

  • Wednesday, July 27, 2016
Skye Strategies, Chattanooga’s grant and fund development agency, has expanded its team with the addition of Kim Shumpert as the newly-created director of grant development and evaluation.

“Skye Strategies is excited about our continued growth, which is in direct response to the needs of our area’s nonprofit community and the citizens whom they serve,” said Jennifer Hoff, agency president and founder. “Kim brings a wealth of expertise in grant writing, program development, strategic planning, board development, and agency capacity building that will be a great asset to the clients we serve across the region.
This is the second new position created since the company graduated from the INcubator at the Business Development Center and moved to Society of Work in The Edney Innovation Center this February.”

Born and raised in Chattanooga, Ms. Shumpert spent the last 20 years in Arkansas working in public, nonprofit, and private sectors. She began her career with the Social Security Administration, where she earned a Commissioner’s Citation for working as part of an emergency team stationed in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina. This experience motivated her to enter the nonprofit arena, where she served as executive director for two different youth-serving agencies and as director of community development for a public K-12 school district. She has also worked closely with the private sector, including director of business development for a large construction company.

“I am delighted at the opportunity to return to my hometown and work with others who share my passion for building vibrant communities that promote access to opportunities for individuals to improve their lives,” said Ms. Shumpert. “As Chattanooga continues to grow and thrive, being a part of the network that ensures those with less resources are not left behind is important to me.”

Ms. Shumpert received her undergraduate degree in Public Administration from Harding University and her masters in public administration from Arkansas State University.
