The Kiwanis Club of Brainerd and the Brainerd Kiwanis Youth Foundation will hold their 70th Annual Fundraising BBQ Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, 6623 Lee Hwy. in Chattanooga near Hwy 153 and I-75. Plates are available for $9 of Porker’s pulled pork, beef or chicken with baked beans, slaw, and a bun. Or 10 ounce containers of pulled pork or beef can be purchased for $9.
Brainerd Kiwanis uses one hundred percent of proceeds to aid local programs serving children and young people. Programs benefiting from past BBQ proceeds include Bethel Bible Village, Boy Scouts of America, Children's Advocacy Center, Community Reconciliation, Inc. (VORP), Foster Care Children’s Christmas, Lana’s Love Foundation, Miracle League of Chattanooga, Chambliss Center for Children, Shop With a Cop (F.O.P. Rock City Lodge #22), Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, Therapeutic Riding of Hixson, and Woodmore Elementary School.
Brainerd Kiwanis sponsors clubs at Boyd Buchannan High School, Brainerd High School, Hickory Valley Christian School, Woodmore Elementary School, and has endowed a scholarship at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
