Man, 28, Shot And Killed In East Chattanooga

  • Friday, July 29, 2016

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed in East Chattanooga early Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Jeremy Clark, a brother of House candidate Dennis Clark.

Dennis Clark said, "Jeremy, a beloved son, my younger brother and dear friend to many, was taken from us too soon. The pain from our sudden and tragic loss is Indescribable. He was a compassionate and fun-loving young man in the prime of his life. He was very special to us and will be sorely missed.

"As we struggle to understand why his life was taken so suddenly, my family and I have chosen, in his honor, as he would have liked it, to continue my campaign for a change in our community and to fight to end the violence occurring in our neighborhoods. There is no better time than now for us to stand together in solidarity to begin the healing process in making our communities vibrant and safe again.

"No parent, brother, sister or friend should have to face this kind of sadness, this kind of loss. And yet we have joined the ranks of those families who still mourn their loved ones who have fallen to other senseless acts of violence.

"He would want us to keep living life to the fullest. That is what we will try to do in the coming days as we morn and celebrate the life of my dear brother. Our family has been inundated with support and sympathy from friends, neighbors and local community members and leaders. Thank you all for your love and prayers.

"At this time, we would appreciate your respect of our privacy during this terrible time of loss. Thank you and may God bless you all.".

At 1:20 a.m., Chattanooga Police officers responded to 2008 Glass St. on a person shot.
