John Wesley Parr, 94, of Rossville, died on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Parr was born and raised in Bardstown, Ky. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served as a staff sergeant in North Africa and Italy under General Patton. He was also a member of Father’s House at St. Michael’s Church in Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Parr.

Surviving are his daughter, Carol Elyse (Peter) Yakimowich; son, John C. (Chris) Parr; four grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at St. Michael’s Church, 2330 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421, with Bishop Richard C. Coleman officiating and assisted by Father Peter Yakimowich.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or to St. Michael’s Church.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
