A Will Roberts goal in the sixth minute assisted by Juan Hernandez looked like it would be enough Saturday night in the NPSL National Semifinal match at Finley Stadium. Unfortunately, the visiting Sonoma County Sol would score two late in the game to earn a 2-1 win.
Sonoma had very few chances in the 90 minutes of play before a crowd of 12,251 which is second to last year's NPSL championship game in Chattanooga.
Sonoma would score in the 80th minute to tie the game and in the 91st minute to earn the win. The shot in the 91st minute was a long one and shocked the crowd which was hoping for an overtime win.
Sonoma will advance to the NPSL national championship game for the fourth time in club history. They won the NPSL national championship in 2009.
This was Sonoma's 6th trip to the national semifinal's and Chattanooga's 5th but the first time either team has played each other.
Chattanooga ends the season with an 9-0-1 Southeast Conference record.
