Pensacola, FL ... The Chattanooga Lookouts 5-0 shutout over Pensacola in front a sellout crowd of 5,038 at Blue Wahoos Stadium won the series, 3-2.
Chattanooga right hander Kohl Stewart (2-3) gave up a line drive single to Pensacola leadoff hitter Alex Blandino and then retired the next 11 in a row before hitting Blue Wahoos third baseman Taylor Sparks with a pitch.
Stewart had runners on second and third base with one out in the fifth inning and the bases loaded with two outs but got out of the inning unscathed when Pensacola center fielder Phillip Ervin hit it back to Stewart for an easy third out.
Stewart pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking two and striking out seven.
Chattanooga improved to 6-4 in the North Division and are 42-38 on the year.
Chattanooga scored first in the fourth inning.
Pensacola starter Nick Travieso walked DH Travis Harrison and allowed a hard hit line drive by first baseman D.J. Hicks. Harrison ended up scoring on a sacrifice fly to center field by shortstop Leo Reginatto to put the Lookouts up, 1-0.
Chattanooga scored two runs in the seventh to go ahead, 3-0. Ryan Walker reached base on an error. The next three Lookouts hitters were credited with hits. Mitch Garver hit a hard chopper that got past third that was ruled a double and drove in Walker and Palka. Palka singled on a slow roller down the first base line.
Chattanooga tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning for a 5-0 lead when Ryan Walker sliced a two-out double to left field to score both center fielder Shannon Wilkerson and second baseman Levi Michael.
