A truck driver had to be extricated after an 18-wheeler overturned Wednesday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department and The Red Bank Fire Department received calls for an 18-wheeler roll over accident at 8:13 a.m. The accident happened on the Highway 27 south ramp off Signal Mountain Road, right on the Red Bank, Chattanooga line.

The Red Bank Fire Department was first on the scene, and confirmed an 18-wheeler roll over with entrapment. Red Bank Fire Department initiated extrication while the Chattanooga Fire Department units were en route. Both departments worked together to extricate the driver.

The extrication took about an hour due to the fact the cab of the truck rolled over on the driver side against the guard rail. Extrication was completed at 9:20 a.m. The driver was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Hamilton County EMA, Hamilton County EMS, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Chattanooga Police were also on the scene.
