George Brown
George Rodney Brown, Jr., 53, appeared in court on Thursday where his charge of attempted first-degree murder was bound over to the Grand Jury.
On April 1, victims Robert Erwin, 52, and John Giles, 46, told police they were remodeling a house on Dunn Lane in Hixson when the defendant walked in and attacked them with a claw hammer.
When officers arrived they said Mr. Erwin was bleeding profusely and stated he had been hit twice by the suspect in the head, once in the shoulder, and once in the upper left arm. Mr. Giles told police he was hit once on the back of his head.
Both men said the attack was unprovoked and that Brown accused them of breaking into his residence at 1722 Strawberry Lane, three houses down from the scene of the incident. Police said Brown also knocked out a side window on Mr. Erwin’s van before going across the street and hitting the door of another residence with his hammer.
Brown was arrested outside his home on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, and felony vandalism.
