Bobby Lee Jefferson, 83, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, July 3, 2016, in a local health care facility. 

He was born on Dec. 25, 1932 in Huntsville, the son of York Jefferson and Minnie Jones. Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority and retired after many years of service. He then was employed by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc. until he fully retired. He was a faithful member of the Avondale Church of Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter. 

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jefferson; son, Eric Jefferson of Chattanooga; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Ann Gates and Valerie Napier, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jamia (Montrell) Harris-Terrell, Jabarri Napier, Lavon Gates, Jermaine Jefferson, all of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Malik Stoudmire and Marii Terrell; brother, Robert (Daisy) Jefferson of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Cossie Garth, Eva (Lebron) Newby, Earline Jones, and Doria Pendleton, all of Huntsville; other relatives, friends and the Taylor Funeral Home family. 

He will lie in state on Sunday, July 10, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Eric Garner as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
