The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported there were two-boating related fatalities over the July 4th holiday weekend. The separate incidents involved victims following off a boat.

The first fatal incident occurred on the Cumberland River in Clarksville when a 59-year old Goodlettsville resident fell overboard Sunday night when he was apparently trying to pull up his anchor on a pontoon boat.

The second fatality came when a 34-year old Knoxville resident fell into Ft. Loudon Lake in the early morning hours on July 4.

During the three-day holiday weekend, there were seven serious injury boating incidents and 12 property damage incidents reported. TWRA boating officers made 23 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests across the state, an increase from six in 2015.

TWRA boating officers also issued 352 citations, 284 warnings and assisted 324 boaters.
