Creative Discovery Museum’s Annual Fundraiser Goes Next Level With 2-Day AmuseUm Event

  • Thursday, August 11, 2016

Creative Discovery Museum is taking its annual fundraiser,  AmuseUm, to the next level this year as it becomes a full weekend of high-tech amusement. First, AmuseUm, the party for grown-ups that benefits kids will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

"Guests will experience entertainment that is both imaginative and interactive as they experience 'a slow-motion mirror' and race 'robotic spheres' through an obstacle course. In addition to an evening of next-level entertainment, guests will experience spectacular food from Lee Towery Catering and dancing on the rooftop with music from Sound Force Entertainment," officials said.

Guests can support the Museum further by bidding at the silent and “roaming” live auctions for a wide variety of items ranging from vacation getaways to one-of-a-kind objects.

Guests can also bid before-hand through an online auction that kicks off on Sept. 6 and runs through Sept. 16 at www.cdmfun.org/auction.

Also, guests at AmuseUm, as well as supporters unable to attend the event, can take a risk and enter to win the Wipe Out Reverse Raffle game. Raffle tickets are $50 each, and numbers are drawn and eliminated throughout the evening one at a time during the event.

The last ticket holder will win the $1,000 grand prize. Only 100 tickets will be sold with a limit of two tickets per person for the game. (According to the rules of the State of Tennessee, Museum board members and employees are not eligible to play.) Wipe Out Reverse Raffle tickets are available at www.cdmfun.org/wipeout.

"What’s the next best thing to a night at AmuseUm? A family-friendly version with your kids," officials said.  New this year, AmuseUm will be expanded into a family-friendly version on Sunday, Sept. 18 as AmuseUm: Kids Edition.

All the high-tech amusements from the evening festivities will stay at the Museum through the weekend so kids can experience the digital playground together with their families.

During the AmuseUm: Kids Edition day, guests, including members, will be asked to “pay what you wish.” The donations will inspire all children to explore, innovate, create and play.

"Whether a first-time visitor or long-time member, each gift will help support the Museum’s outstanding exhibits, educational and outreach programs which are enjoyed by more than 250,000 children and their caregivers every year," officials said.

“Supporters of AmuseUm are truly helping engineer a future for the next generation as they help us inspire all children to explore, innovate, create and play,” said Henry Schulson, executive director at Creative Discovery Museum. “AmuseUm will provide much-needed support to enable us to reach out in our community and make it the best place for a child to grow up.”
