Calvin Leon Carter, 58, died on August 6, 2016. 

Calvin was born on June 10, 1958 in Chattanooga, to the union of James and Christabelle Carter.  He was of Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Carter; grandfather, Ink Thomas; grandmother, Loudell Thomas; siblings, Wayne L. Carter, Rosetta A. Carter, Rita Faye Carter Ector and Ricky Johnson.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Christabelle Thomas Johnson; devoted and loving step-father, Dillion Johnson of Cheverly, Maryland; one devoted brother, Walter Ray Carter of Cheverly and step-brother, Tony Johnson of Maryland; devoted aunts, Lola Mae Kitchen, Jana Thomas, Elise Mae Carter; adopted aunt, Fannie (Eddie) Holmes of Chattanooga; uncles, Robert “Bobby” Wilkes; special adopted aunts, Annie Dade (Thomas) Florence Piles; loving best friends, James and Gwen Little of Woodbridge, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Willie Paul officiating.  Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
