Ruby Naomi Thurman, 93, a resident of McDonald, Tennessee, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was a member of Ooltewah Church of God.
Mrs. Thurman was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Thurman; daughter, Bettye Tinker of Ringgold, GA; son-in-law, Ken Elliott of Rossville, GA; granddaughter, Vickie Goodwin of McDonald, TN; great-grandson, Jon Tinker of Ringgold, GA; one brother; and two sisters.
She is survived by her four daughters, Edna Elliott of McDonald, TN, Charlsie Oglesby and husband, Winston of Ringgold, GA, Rachel Goodwin and husband, Jimmy of McDonald, TN and Pat Callihan and husband, Larry of McDonald, TN; son-in-law, Carl Tinker of Ringgold, GA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Edmond Stallings and Rev. Walter Bateman officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery with grandsons: Mike, Chuck and David Tinker, Dee Callihan, Lamar Fisher, Ricky Oglesby, Caleb Oglesby and Josh Pettyjohn serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
