Industrial Fire Breaks Out At Sale Creek

  • Friday, August 19, 2016

An industrial fire broke out in Sale Creek on Friday evening.

At 5:20 p.m., a motorist called 911 reporting a large building on fire. Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene within minutes reporting heavy smoke and fire pouring out of the building's roofline.

Due to the size of the fire, Sale Creek VFD requested a mutual aid response for additional apparatus and personnel. Soddy Daisy Fire, Dallas Bay VFD, Rhea County FD, Dayton FD, Graysville FD,  Signal Mountain FD, and Chattanoooga-Hamilton County Rescue responded to the fire scene. Mowbray VFD and Sequoyah VFD were standing by at Sale Creek Station 1 for any additional emergency calls. Mutual Aid Chiefs from East Ridge and Bradley County Fire Rescue responded to the scene to assist Sale Creek VFD.

Sale Creek Fire Chief Jimbo Aslinger reported the heavy smoke and fire was heavily concentrated to the second floor in the storage area of the building. On arrival, firefighters conducted a defensive attack using ladder trucks and deck guns to get the fire under control.  Then firefighters went inside the building to extinguish the fire and contain it from spreading throughout the 300-foot x 100-foot building.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters. The extent of damage to the building is significant. Damage value is undetermined at this time. The cause of the fire is undetermined as well and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

No one was inside the industrial equipment supplier at the time.
