City Transportation Director Says 1 More Public Meeting Planned On Long-Delayed Central Avenue Extension

  • Tuesday, August 2, 2016

City Transportation Director Blythe Bailey said one more public meeting is set on the long-delayed Central Avenue Extension going from near Erlanger Hospital to Amnicola Highway.

He said dozens of meetings have been held in the past on the project that has faced some opposition from Lincoln Park residents.

Mr. Bailey said the project has proven to be "more complicated than was originally expected."

He said the cost of the project has risen to between $9 million and $10 million.

The City Council was considering a resolution to raise the payment to Ragan-Smith Associates, consultants on the project by $645,163. The new charge will be $1,405,935.

Mr. Bailey said that was in line considering all the delays and challenges and the rise in the overall construction cost.
