Special Event Street Closures For Aug. 24-28

Wednesday:

Party in the Passageways: Cherry Street between 7th and 8th Street will be closed from 4:30-9 p.m. for the Passageways exhibit. Experience transformative art and technology installations featured in four Downtown alleyways at Party in the Passageways. Free and open to the community, attendees can check-in at 5:30 p.m. in Miller Plaza – 850 Market Street, where maps of the exhibit locations will be distributed. Thursday:

MDA Fill the Boot Campaign: Chattanooga firefighters kick off their Fill the Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Thursday morning at Station 1 on E.

Main Street. No direct closures for this event, but firefighters will be in several intersections this week collecting money for MDA. For a full list of intersections, visit the Chattanooga Fire Department's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ChattFireDept.  

Friday:

Nightfall: Nightfall is a free concert series that takes place each Friday in the Summer. Market St. from 10th to 8th, as well as Martin Luther King Blvd. from Broad to Georgia, will be closed from 5:30-11:59 p.m. Visit www.nightfallchattanooga.com for more information. 

Saturday:

River Gorge Omnium: Closures will be from 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.  Eastbound MLK will be closed between Broad and Market.  Northbound Broad will be closed from 12th St. to MLK, 10th St., 11th St. and 12th St. between Market and Broad will be closed, Southbound Market from MLK to 12th St. will be closed and Northbound Market St. from Georgia to MLK will be closed. A spectator friendly course with food/beverage vendors, restaurants, race announcer and podium ceremonies on site that includes a time trial, criterium, and road race. Cameron Bean Memorial 5K: The Cameron Bean Memorial 5k & Magnum Mile will start on Hamm Road and will have runners on Moccasin Bend Road. The road will be open, but cars are advised to watch for runners in the road. For more information, visit www.camrunchattanooga.com.

Readers and Writers Fair: Road closures for this event include 11th Street between Lindsay Street and Houston Street, as well as Newby Street between 10th and 11th Street. The City of Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs hosts the inaugural Readers and Writers Fair on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free and open to the public, the Fair features 50+ booths of authors, publishers, teachers, and businesses on the streets around City Hall w/local authors presenting in Council Chambers. Sunday:

Chattanooga Market: Reggie White Boulevard will be closed from the entrance to the skate park to 19th Street on Sunday from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.The largest producer-only public market in the region. Fresh locally-grown produce, breads, arts and more. Visit www.chattanoogamarket.com for more information.
