Carl M. Lee, 94 of Dayton, TN and formerly of Gadsden and Flat Rock, AL, died peacefully in his sleep at the Soddy Daisy Skilled Health Care on Saturday, August 20, 2016.
He was a Navy veteran, of which he was very proud. Mr. Lee retired from Combustion Engineering with 32 years of service. He received his GED at the age of 63 in order to become an EMT. He volunteered for the Ider, AL Rescue Squad for about 16 years.
He was the son of the late John and Ella Covington Lee and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbur and Hoe Lee; his wife of 57 years, Lucille Taylor Lee; daughter, Patsy Carter; sons in law, Tommy Carter and Robert Thornburg (USAF retired).
Survivors include his daughters, Marsha Thornburg (USAF Retired), Brigham City, Utah, Mary Jean (Terry) Crabtree, Hixson, TN; grandchildren, Joanna Carter, David Carter, Adam Carter, sister, Wilma McCormick; four great-grandchildren, and dear friends, Earlene Outlaw and Stanley Kyle; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a later date where he will be interred in Pleasant View Alabama Cemetery next to his beloved wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tn. 38105.
