Mary Bashie Steele Evans, 97, died on August 22, 2016.

Bashie was born on Nov. 12, 1918, in Chattanooga, graduating from the Bright School, Girls' Preparatory School and Randolph-Macon Women's College, a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.  She was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Changed Lives, Tuesday Bible Class and her Bridge Club.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Gideons' Auxiliary, and Junior League Garden Club. 

Bashie was predeceased by her husband, Dave W. Evans, Jr., her parents, Willard and Kate Hinds Steele, and her brother, Willard H. Steele, Jr.

Survivors are her daughter, Mary Evans, Barbara (Leon) Leake, Bob (Julie) Steele, Richard (Diane) Steele, Emilee Frincke, and many "adopted" family.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 1st Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home & Cremation Center, at the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, St. Elmo, 423 821-7551.
