Problems With The Proposed Apartments In Lookout Valley

  • Tuesday, August 23, 2016

I am deeply troubled at the way in which this proposal has been handled. The blatant disregard for the residents of Kelly's Ferry Road and the wishes of the Lookout Valley Area Plan (which was adopted by the city in 2003) by Chip Henderson and Tommy Austin amazes me.

Yes, there was a meeting of the Lookout Valley Neighborhood association in August, but it wasn't on its normal night. It was two days earlier. Funny how there wasn't a single "no" vote for this apartment complex. Could that be because not a single resident of Kelly's Ferry Road was present at that meeting due to the date change? If any of us had been aware that the meeting had been changed I'm sure there would have been at least a few "no" votes.

That's some shady stuff right there guys. But I'm sure that was just an innocent oversight. So, kudos to you and all those that are so gung-ho for this project.

Since it's going to be shoved down our throats against our will, the least you could do is tell us (the residents of Kelly's Ferry Road) what Lookout Valley stands to gain from this complex?  What benefit is this apartment complex to me? I see no positives. As I see it, all I have to look forward to is additional flooding from runoff water in my yard, additional noise from the 500+ people and cars across the way from me and an emergency access road that dumps out in my front yard.

But please feel free to tell me how this is going to be so good for me and my neighbors, and will not affect our residential neighborhood in any way.

I'd really love to know.
