Whaley Cleo “Skip” Fulford, 74, of Jasper, Tennessee, died on Sunday, August 21, 2016.
He was born in Fitzgerald, GA, on Sept. 9, 1941.He joined the US Navy in 1960.
Throughout his Navy career he was attached to operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica/New Zealand. During these years is where he met the love of his life, Prudence (Toni) and made her his wife.
After serving 25 years in the US Navy he retired and they made Jasper, TN their home. He loved to fish and hunt and especially loved spending time with family and friends telling old stories and jokes.
He was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago and fought a great fight. Until this past year he was diagnosed with lung cancer for the second time. Unfortunately and sadly this time his fight was too much. Still joking and smiling through the pain, he peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. He will be missed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman Cleo and Vera Whaley Fulford..
Mr. Fulford is survived by his wife, Prudence (Toni) Fulford; sons, Keith Fulford and Richard Bice; daughter, Andrea (Terry) Fahringer; grandchildren, Britttnay, Kelly, Christopher, Ashley, Dustin and Phillip ; 3 great-grandchildren brother, Jerry; sisters, JoAnne, Betty Jean, Ollie June (William) and Mary Francis; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. CDT, on Saturday, Aug. 27.
A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
