Marilyn Newman
Marilyn G. Newman, 88, of Apison, died on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in a local health care center surrounded by her family.
A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Mrs. Newman served as secretary for Burnette & Associates in Rossville, for many years.
She was a longtime member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church and for the past five years has served as pianist at Trion Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Newman loved to sing and play the piano and was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Newman.
She is survived by her daughters, Renee (Chuck) Lowe, Apison, and Penny Downs Tullock, Chattanooga; sons, Randy (Sheri) Downs, Harrison and Craig (Debbie) Downs, Ooltewah; close family friend, Grady Worley, Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Emily and Matt Downs, Harrison; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at noon in the chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
