Bernice Thacker
Bernice Thacker, 80, of Lakeview, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 27, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends.
Mrs. Thacker was a long time member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church and a member of Brainerd Baptist Church at the time of her death, active in the Friendship class. She faithfully served at her church and local school and scouting programs and enjoyed traveling with her friends and spending time at Weiss Lake. Her life was dedicated to raising her children and grandchildren. The legacy of her generous spirit and love for her family will continue on through the generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Iva Bunch.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Thacker; children, Gary (Kristi) Thacker, Mike Thacker, and Tammy (Larry) Burns; grandchildren, Julie (Chase) Rhodes, Jeremy (Rachel) Thacker, Brittany (Zach) Roberts, Brett (Kayla) Burns, Jordan (Sherry) Thacker, Hunter Johnson, and Kelley Thacker; great grandchildren, Fisher, Raelynn, Hadley, Teagan, Henley, Dane, and Sloane; sister, Margaret Mullins; brother, Clyde Bunch; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Wendell and Nancy Norwood and Billy and Hazel Stephenson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Randy Franks officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 29, from 3-8 p.m., and Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
