Todd Wood
Todd Wood, 45, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Sunday, August 28, 2016.
He was born March 18, 1971 in Chattanooga.
Todd was a 1989 graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School and was currently enrolled in Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He met the love of his life, Tara Lawhorn in Chattanooga and they married on Aug. 1, 1998.
He was formerly employed with Georgia Farm Bureau, he was in sales at Tennessee Trucks and Southway Equipment, and served with the National Center for Youth Issues.
Rev. Wood was on staff at Brainerd Baptist Church where he served as pastor of administration and was also a Sunday School teacher for the Wood Sunday School Class. He was a deacon and had served on the Brainerd Baptist School board.
His father, Richard Edward Wood and grandparents, Edward & Ruby Wood and Ray and Ernestine Stanfield preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Tara Lawhorn Wood; son, Dax Wood of Ringgold; mother and step-father Susan and Steve Underwood of Chattanooga; brother, Brian (Beth) Wood of East Ridge; sisters, Melissa Wood (Thomas) Ellis of Rock Spring and Tanya Lindsey of Ooltewah; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill & Linda Lawhorn of Chickamauga; brother-in-law, Greg (Wendy) Lawhorn; several nieces and nephews, Chase, Jacob, Alivia, and Hanna Wood, Sam and Jackson Ellis, Lexa Cox, Tristan Lindsey, Addyson Newhouse, and Andrya (Josh Hood) Lawhorn and Christian Lawhorn; and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. at Brainerd Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at Brainerd Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Craft and Reverend Micah Fries officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wood Sunday School Class of Brainerd Baptist Church.
