GDOL To Help Recruit Prison Correctional Officers In Trion

  • Wednesday, August 3, 2016

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will help Hays State Prison in Trion recruit about 70 correctional officers on Thursday, Aug. 18, in LaFayette.

The recruitment will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LaFayette Housing Authority located at 300 South Oak Street. GDOL staff will be on site to help screen the applicants, while prison staff will be available to answer applicants’ questions.

While experience as a correctional officer is not necessary, applicants with prior military experience are encouraged to apply. All applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma, or a General Education Diploma (GED).

The starting salary for correctional officers at the prison is $31,040 a year.

Applicants are encouraged to bring a resume and dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.

Job seekers planning to attend the recruitment are encouraged to visit www.employgeorgia.com to create an account and upload, or prepare, a resume. Having an Employ Georgia account and resume expedites the interview process.

For more information about the recruitment, contact the GDOL’s Lafayette Career Center at (706) 638-5525. The career center, located at 200 West Villanow Street, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
