Kenco Celebrates 66th Year With Record Growth, Top Honors And Expanded Capabilities

  • Tuesday, August 30, 2016

Kenco Logistics is celebrating its 66th anniversary this month. The Chattanooga–based third party logistics provider (3PL) continued its growth throughout North America, exceeding $530 million in revenue and 5,000 employees for the first time in its history.

Significant new business with customers in the automotive parts, building supplies, flooring, food, and industrial markets has led to record sales results. To assist with management of this growth and execution of the company’s strategic plan, Kenco has added Gary Kimball to its board of directors. Mr. Kimball is an associate professor and director of the Managerial Studies Program at Vanderbilt University and formerly served as the CFO of OHL.

In recognition of its growth and history of operational excellence, several industry organizations and customers acknowledged Kenco for remarkable performance. Most notably, Whirlpool named Kenco “Supplier of the Year,” and Inbound Logistics magazine ranked the company a “Top 10 3PL” for the fourth straight year. Kenco was also honored with top safety awards in an annual competition sponsored by the American Trucking Associations.

Kenco expanded its capabilities this past year with the creation of the Kenco Innovation Lab  This team of innovators works with customers to identify, research and prototype ideas and processes. The team also partners with entrepreneurs and vendors from multiple industries to identify trends that can be cost-effectively applied in the supply chain. One of these partnerships includes Dynamo, the Chattanooga-based logistics, transportation and supply chain accelerator. As a result of these efforts, Kenco was named one of this year’s top 10 North American 3PLs for innovation by editors of Global Trade magazine.

“I have never been so proud of Kenco’s accomplishments and success,” said Kenco Chairwoman and CEO Jane Kennedy Greene. “Most impressive is that we continue to grow while still maintaining the culture established by our founders.”
