The Chattanooga Lookouts held a one run lead heading into the ninth inning, but surrendered four runs in the final frame to fall 6-3 to the Mississippi Braves. With the loss the Lookouts are now three games back of Montgomery for first place in the North Division.
Chattanooga got off to a great start in the second inning when Tanner Witt drove home the first run of the game.
That single was Witt's first Double-A RBI.
In the second inning the team increased their lead to two on a Edgar Corcino RBI single.
Up 2-0 the Lookouts and starter Ryan Eades were cruising until the fifth inning when the Braves tied it up. For the third consecutive start Eades went over six innings. The righty finished the day only allowing two runs while fanning a season-high seven batters.
With the score tied in the seventh inning Tanner Witt struck again. This time the infielder smacked a double to lead off the inning. Witt scored two batters later on a Zack Granite RBI single.
Granite ended the night going 2-for-4 and is now hitting a league high .303. He also stole his 53rd base which ties him with Dee Gordon for the fourth most in single-season franchise history.
In the ninth Raul Fernandez came into the game looking for his sixth save of the year, but Ozzie Albies took him deep on a 1-2 pitch to tie the game. Now knotted up at three, the Braves snagged their first lead of the game with two outs on a Joey Meneses two-run single. Mississippi added one more run to give themselves a 6-3 lead.
