  • Thursday, September 1, 2016

Chester Bankston and Greg Beck are expected to lead the County Commission for the upcoming year.

The commission chooses new leadership each September.

It will be the second term for Commissioner Bankston, who is from District 9.

Commissioner Beck, who is a veteran from District 5, said he wants to be "a source of stability and information on the commission."

The chairman makes an additional $5,000 and the vice chairman an extra $2,500.

The commission is considering an even higher rate for the two, while determining how to resolve two conflicting prior resolutions on their pay.

Randy Fairbanks is the vice chairman. He said he was willing to continue serving in the post, but had not sought it.

Joe Graham had been mentioned for chairman. He also said he was willing to serve, but was not campaigning for appointment.
