MLK Boulevard/Bailey Avenue Could Get Bike Lanes

  • Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Bicycle lanes may be coming to MLK Boulevard and Bailey Avenue.

The city is taking public comment on the idea of removing a lane of traffic on that stretch of roadway leading from downtown to Highland Park.

Some bicyclists have been asking for a designated lane along the route.

If the proposal is approved, there would be three traffic lanes instead of the current four. The middle lane would be for turns.

One proposal would have two bike lanes in either direction. Another option is to widen the roadway to give more space for cars and bikes.

The city is conducting an online survey until Thursday.
